Leisure Pace Strategy

When traveling with teenagers for 18 days, the goal is to avoid 5:00 AM wake-ups and minimize airport stress. Active route: Copenhagen → Stockholm (5 nights, Aug 7–11), Stockholm (ARN) → Dublin (DUB) (Wed Aug 12), Dublin → London (Sun Aug 16). Older route snapshots are listed in saved plans.

Tue, Aug 4
✈️ Flight
London (LHR) Copenhagen (CPH)

Optimal Route

British Airways BA814

Departs ~09:40 AM, Arrives ~12:35 PM
Why this pace: You don't want to wake up at 4 AM on your first real travel day. A 9:40 AM flight lets you eat breakfast at your London hotel, head to Heathrow around 7:30 AM, and lands in Copenhagen right at lunchtime.
Est. Cost: $120–$160 / person
Fri, Aug 7
✈️ Flight
Copenhagen (CPH) Stockholm (ARN)

Optimal Route

SAS or Norwegian (direct)

~1h 15m block — typical morning departures. Keeps you moving northeast toward the rest of Sweden before Ireland.
Why this pace: Short flight, Arlanda Express into town, then five nights in Stockholm (Aug 7–11) before Ireland — time for Djurgården, a buffer day, and a proper archipelago day.
Est. Cost: $80–$160 / person
Wed, Aug 12
✈️ Flight
Stockholm (ARN) Dublin (DUB)

Optimal Route

SAS / Norwegian (direct when offered; otherwise one-stop via CPH/OSL)

EU → Ireland still means passport control — just not a UK stamp on this routing. Late-morning departures keep Tue Aug 11 as a full Stockholm buffer/pack day.
Why this pace: One hop from Scandinavia to Ireland — you skip Edinburgh entirely on this plan (archived here). The old GOT→EDI leg lives in the Gothenburg snapshot.
Est. Cost: $110–$220 / person
Sun, Aug 16
✈️ Flight
Dublin (DUB) London (LHR)

Optimal Route

Aer Lingus, British Airways, or Ryanair (confirm airport: LHR vs STN/LGW)

~1h 15m; same local time as Ireland. Prefer LHR if you are staying central or returning on UA939 from Terminal 2.
Why this pace: Short hop after four nights in Dublin — you're back in the UK (England) for two London nights and Clearwell without another Scandinavian connection.
Est. Cost: $60–$130 / person
Mon, Aug 17 – Wed, Aug 19
🚗 Rental Car
London Clearwell Castle LHR

Optimal Route

M4 Westbound (Cotswolds & Gloucestershire)

Pick up Central London (e.g. Paddington/Marble Arch). Return at Heathrow (LHR).
Why this pace: Picking up the car in Central London on Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning saves you from paying for unnecessary city parking during your weekend. Driving the 2.5 hours through the Cotswolds to Gloucestershire is a lovely transition to the wedding. Dropping it off directly at Heathrow Terminal 2 on Wednesday morning gives you maximum flexibility before your 4:15 PM flight (UA939) home.
Est. Cost: $150–$250 total (plus fuel)
